Building a Website to Build Connections: Beers & Careers

Networking is a cherished pastime in D.C. It’s an opportunity to build connections, land your dream job, sustain old or build new client relationships. One of Gray Street Solutions’ newest clients, Beers & Careers, a company that hosts networking events for millennial-aged job seekers, is looking to improve the networking experience; over beers, of course!

GSS’s goal was to develop a website that achieves Beers & Careers’ vision to offer a one-stop-shop for job seekers, providing a comprehensive list of events, job listings, and career mentoring opportunities.

For this particular project, GSS understood the importance of creating a platform that serves as both a public and private hub to coordinate online and offline activities.

NationBulider (NB) was the obvious choice for Beers & Careers. NB is more streamlined and easier to manage internal and external communications, such as social media platforms and blog posts.

NB’s design and functionality elements are compatible with Windows 7, Apple OS X, Android, and Apple iOS. Now that Google is factoring mobile-friendliness into their ranking algorithms, it was important to GSS to achieve a fully responsive website for Beers & Careers new web property.

More importantly, NB is one of the few platforms that boasts a “Community Organizing System.” This system integrates these three sets of tools that usually exist separately from one another:

• CMS to automatically manage content on the site;
• Communication platforms to manage email, Facebook and Twitter; and
• Calendar and event RSVP services.

All of these tools are essential to Beers and Careers’ events-based services!

Although we’re fans of a host of CMS systems, popular alternative solutions (Wordpress / Drupal) would require more custom programing and configuration, costing 15 to 25 percent more to achieve the same level of functionality NB provides.

In an effort to stay lean, and echo GSS’s mantra to provide our clients the very best solution(s) to fit their needs and budget, NB was the perfect choice!
